Last month, Bieber was forced to leave his pet capuchin monkey, OG Mally, at the Munich airport because he didn’t have the correct documentation to allow the pet in the country. Bieber was given 30 days to come up with the papers, and he ultimately decided to give up the monkey.

However, it seems he didn’t tell that to the Munich animal shelter where Mally has been held since being taken away from Bieber. The shelter is now billing Bieber for the cost of care for his monkey. Between general care, food and vet visits for OG Mally, Bieber’s bill is several thousand dollars, according to the Munich customs office.

Furthermore, the shelter is still waiting for a response regarding next actions for Mally. He has a deadline of today to come up with papers with legally reclaim OG Mally, otherwise the monkey will be moved permanently to a German zoo or animal park.

As previously reported, in a statement obtained by Radio.com, PETA said: “PETA Germany is in touch with the shelter where baby monkey Mally is being held, and she is being treated wonderfully well. She is in excellent hands in a safe place, and she’ll be integrated with other monkeys so that she can receive the social interaction vital to her well-being and psychological growth.”

PETA went on to note that “young people often acquire animals without considering the impact or consequences, and Justin Bieber likely had no idea that Mally was a baby, taken away from her mother at way too young an age. We trust that he’ll do the right thing and pay for Mally to stay in Europe with people who are sensitive to, and familiar with, her unique needs.”

Bieber has yet to comment on his monkey’s forced captivity in Germany.

“Donors have made public financial commitments on the basis of the Plan for the Sustainable Recovery of Mali 2013-2014 (PRED) presented by the Malian government,” said a statement issued after an international donor conference on Mali held in Brussels.

“Of the 4.34 billion euro (US$5.59 billion) budget needed to implement the PRED, financial pledges for 3.25 billion euros have been announced by donors,” the statement said.

The conference was organised by the European Union (EU) in coordination with France and Mali.

“It is crucial that Mali’s social and economic development and the consolidation of a stable state built on solid democratic foundations go hand in hand with efforts to stabilise the country,” said European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso.

French President Francois Hollande said: “Mali is recovering its territorial integrity and is actively preparing for presidential elections in July and with the donor conference in Brussels, is making progress in its development.”

Mali’s interim President Dioncounda Traore said the European Union will provide training for its defense and security forces through the European Union Training Mission (EUTM).

Hundreds of people will gather at Cape Town International Airport to welcome Professor Cyril Karabus home, his lawyer Michael Bagraim said.

Karabus, who was finally given a visa by the Abu Dhabi government on Thursday that would allow him to leave the United Arab Emirates (UAE), is expected to land in Cape Town on Friday.

His lawyer was quoted by the SABC as saying: “He wants to face the people that will come to the airport and say thank you. There is going to be hundreds of people at the airport. My office is getting calls all the time asking what time, what flight. I’ve had over 150 emails asking what time and what flight.  We think there’s going to be over a thousand people there.”

The 78-year-old paediatric oncologist has been detained in the UAE since August 2012. He was arrested whilst flying home from his son’s wedding in Canada, via Dubai. He was arrested on manslaughter charges relating to the death of a Yemeni girl he treated for leukaemia in the UAE in 2002.

Following numerous legal hiccups, the Cape Town professor was finally acquitted of all charges in March this year. His return home has been beset by a series of administrative delays.

Nigerian forces used jets and attack helicopters to bombard Islamist militant camps in the northeast on Friday, killing a number of insurgents, the defense headquarters spokesman said.

Brigadier-General Chris Olukolade told Reuters by telephone several camps had been attacked, including in the Sambisa game reserve in Borno state, but did not have further details.

“A number of insurgents have been killed. It is not just Sambisa, every camp is under attack. But we have not done the mopping up operations on the ground to determine the numbers killed,” Olukolade said.

Nigerian forces are trying to regain territory controlled by increasingly well-armed Boko Haram Islamist insurgents in their northeastern stronghold states of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa, which were put under a state of emergency by President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday.
