Sarkodie has been named Best African Act (Africa) at this year’s BET Award which came off Sunday night at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, USA.
The Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year jointly won the award with Nigeria’s pop act Wizkid.
The ‘You Go Kill Me’ star and Wizkid were nominated together with Nigerian rapper Ice Prince, Kenyan Hip-Hop/R&B group Camp Mulla, South African singer Lira and French speaking Malian rapper Mokobe for the coveted Best African Act prize.
‘Thankful!‘, an excited Wizkid tweeted.
This isn’t the first time the Best African Act award will be jointly won. Last year, African pop giants D’banj and 2face came out tops and received a joint award prize in the same category.
Until last night, no Ghanaian act had won the award, which means Sarkodie has broken the jinx.
